My plans for yesterday evening were majorly destroyed.

I didn’t finish a frustrating physical therapy session until after 8pm (I started at 6:30!) so I realized I wouldn’t have time to go to Trader Joe’s and make it to Union Market for my cheese before they closed at 9pm.

I made an executive decision that I wanted cheese more than I wanted the things from TJ’s so I got on the subway that goes closer to my apartment and to Union Market. Well, the subway got stuck underground for about 10 minutes so when we stopped at the first stop in Brooklyn, which is relatively close to TJ’s, it was 8:40 and there was no way I was making it to two more stops and the 10 minute walk to the market before 9pm.

I got off figuring I’d cut my losses and just go to Trader Joe’s where I can buy cheese. But the subway where I get off is much farther from TJ’s than I thought so it took a while to get there.

Keep in mind that I’m starving this entire time. I had an apple around 5 which I thought be enough to hold me over, but I also though I’d be home around 8!

Basically I didn’t end up getting home until after 9:30 and at that point I wasn’t going to roast brussel sprouts. So my dinner was changed to

Take out the planned veggie and add an apple, two pieces of TJ’s cheddar (not bad), and two pieces of chocolate.

I did ok with the spending. I ended up spending $17.24 in Trader Joe’s which is more than I wanted, but I got the $3.29 cheese, a $2.99 chocolate orange

and a 99 cent Advent Calendar for my office

We’ve decorated our office for Christmas and we’ve been playing Christmas music nonstop. I’m add this today

I’ll try to remember to take a picture of our other stuff today.

Another result of geting home so late last night was that I didn’t have time to make oatmeal for this morning so I had to have cold cereal.

Brrrrrrrrrr! It was freezing!

(Why do my pictures all look so terrible?!?!)

An Off Day

Today was a totally off day for me. I went to bed too late last night. I was exhausted when my alarm went off this morning. Then, all morning at work, I felt like I was getting a cold. My throat hurt, I was sleepy, I was congested, I was sneezing. Not happy.

For lunch I walked out with the CEO’s assistant to get her food and I ended up getting a really gross baked potato that made me feel sick the entire afternoon.  But after I ate the cold-like feeling went away, so yay!

I did some shopping at the Greenmarket after work. I got some veggies, including brussel sprouts which I’m going to try for the first time!

I came home, read for a little while, and then headed out to the gym.

My goal is to wake up relatively early tomorrow and run 6 miles. Now, you may have noticed that I have never even come close to running 6 miles, but given the speed work I’ve been doing at the gym and the inclines I’ve been running on I think I have a shot. And, if I can’t do it, I will have at least tried.

So I didn’t want to exhaust myself with my workout tonight, but I also wanted to make sure I worked out. I ended up walking at a 4.0 speed for 10 minutes at a 7.0 incline, then 10 minutes on a 6.0 incline, then 10 minutes on a 5.0 incline, and then ran a mile at 6.0 pace and 2.0 incline. Then I did 20 minutes on the Stairmaster. And abs and stretched.

Wish me luck! I figure in honor of marathon weekend I can at lesat get myself out there and try!

And stay tuned tomorrow for a special NYC Marathon post!
