Right at the moment when this post goes up I will be leaving work, getting on the F train, transferring to the 7 train at Bryant Park, and going out to the US Open!! Excitement!

Since my posting this week might be a little sketchy I’m trying to write posts and schedule them as much as possible.

Here’s my lunch today:

Turkey sandwich

green beans 831

Green beans (sorry for the blurry picture!)

watermelon 831

And a ton of watermelon (I’ll report back whether I actually eat it all).

Tonight at the Open is the opening night ceremony, a tribute to Andre Agassi (LOVE him!), and then Venus Williams and Andy Roddick will play.

Even more ready

My alarm went off at 5:50, but I wasn’t ready to get up. I kept sleeping until 6:15 so no workout. But I think that’s ok, this is kind of like a vacation week.

In addition to showering, making breakfast, etc. I also made lunch, measured out my breakfasts for the rest of the week, and packed a few food things to bring to my parents’.

I don’t think I could be better prepared. Yet I’m still really nervous about the next few days.

Here’s breakfast:

Happy Monday! I’ll be back with a lunch post later in the day and hopefully an update tonight/early tomorrow morning if things aren’t too crazy.

All ready

Here in a very quick post is what I did this weekend and what my week ahead is like.

Friday I ate lunch at my friend’s apartment. We ordered kind of bad Mexican take out and played Rock Band. I wasn’t hungry the rest of the day, that’s how bad the Mexican take out was.

Saturday it rained. Almost all day. I had breakfast:

And spent all day watching TV. I watched Ted Kennedy’s funeral,  I watched Top Chef, I watched tennis, I watched Little League baseball, I watehed Serendipity, it was lazy and nice. I also do the 30 Day Shred and went for a really great run. I did almost the entire huge hill in the park and I felt like I could have done more but my friend wanted to stop so I did too.

For dinner I went to the Dram Shop and had my favorite super unhealthy burger and fries.

This morning I had oatmeal for breakfast but couldn’t find my camera to take a picture. I sat around most of the day, despite the nice weather, just trying to organize my life for the week ahead.

I went out to get groceries and I picked up some turkey chili for lunch:

And a drink:

I did some more stuff around the house and then I went for a run. I went by myself because my friend’s ankle is randomly swollen, and it just wasn’t good. I feel like I go faster by myself, which is fine, but it tires me out more and I prefer distance to speed. Plus my ankles were killing me. I got to around 2 miles and I was shaking so I stopped and walked, but it was still difficult to get home. I’ve iced them and done my exercises and they feel better so hopefully it was just the running two days in a row or something that did it. So frustrating.

I had a sandwich for dinner:

And some fruit:

And some wine:

The US Open starts tomorrow and I’m so excited. I’m also nervous about managing everything.

I have my outfits picked out for the rest of the week and laid out so I don’t have to think about that. I also made my breakfasts and my lunches so I can just eat/bring those every day. Thus avoiding junk food since I’ll be eating crap for dinner. I also packed my bag for my parents’ house this weekend.

Here’s what my schedule looks like:

Monday: Leave for work around 7:45, leave work around 5, US Open until at least 11pm, probably later, home around 1 or 2am.

Tuesday: Leave for work around 7:45, leave work around 5, US Open until at 11pm, home around 1am.

Wednesday: Leave for work around 7:45, leave work around 5, US Open until at 11pm, home around 1am.

Thursday: Leave to meet my dad at US Open, stay there all day, he drives me back to Brooklyn, I get my stuff, and then we drive out to their house for the weekend.

As you can see that doesn’t leave me much time for sleep, which is stressful. Or exercise. I want to try to wake up and do the 30 Day Shred but I don’t know if it’s going to be possible. More sleep might be better. I think I’m going to skip the Shred tomorrow since my ankles are so sensitive. We’ll see.

So forgive me if I slack with blogging, I’m going to try my best, but in situations like this I usually just crash. At least it’s all fun stuff. I’m so excited. This is my favorite time of the year!

I’ll be back…

…with a post this evening. It’s been a very, very unproductive, lazy weekend and my food has been representative of that (ugh!).

Rain, Rain Go Away

It’s raining. It’s supposed to rain on and off all day. And all weekend. This is totally ruining all my weekend plans. Looks like I might stay inside and blog all weekend!

We’ll see what happens, it’s all up in the air now.

I did level 3 of the 30 Day Shred this morning. It was more difficult this morning than it’s been the other mornings. Maybe from my run last night? I don’t know, but I got through it and I feel good.

For breakfast this morning I somehow ended up making way too many oats. I made them like I always do: 3/4 c. water, 1/4c. oats, 1/4 c. skim milk, half a banana, some blueberries, 1 tbsp. flax, 1 tbsp. peanut butter. Yet I have SO many, I don’t think I’m going to be able to finish them.

Let’s all hope it doesn’t rain all day and I can get out to the US Open!

I’ve now been blogging for a month and so far so good! I’ve really enjoyed it, I feel like I’ve learned a lot about myself, and I’ve had an increasing number of page views (except for today which dropped drastically).

So here’s to another month!

Lunch today was not at all appetizing.

lunch 827

I had some of my leftover salad from last night minus the lettuce and chickpeas.

Then I had an open-faced hummus sandwich.

I also had a bag of Cape Code salt and vinegar potato chips and a nectarine because I can’t stop eating today.

Before my run I had several snacks including a spoonful of white chocolate peanut butter:

Then I had a few mini peanut butter cups, a piece of cheese, and half of this kid’s Lara bar:

Not good, not good at all.

I went for a run tonight with Laura. It’s so much easier to run with someone else. We started out and my ankles were sore and I was so nauseated (that will teach me to eat so much food), but I pushed through. We did about 2.5 miles in 24 minutes which I think is great. We ended after going even farther up the big hill then we went the other day.

I think my goal is going to be to run around the entire park. It’s just over 3.25 miles so it’s not that much farther than a 5k. It does involve a really big hill, but I know I can do it.

Dinner was delicious. Even though I still felt a little sick to my stomach I decided to make the enchiladas I had planned because I’d be looking forward to them all day.

I used Trader Joe’s enchilada sauce:

It looks really rich, but I don’t think it was unhealthy. They’re corn tortillas which are good, they’re filled with kidney beans simmered in 1/4 cup of the sauce, and then they’re topped with another 1/4 cup of sauce, 1/4 cup of cheese, and a little bit of guac. The sauce itself is pretty healthy: 30 calories, 1.5g of fat.

And they were great.

I’m supposed to go to the US Open qualifying after work (half day) tomorrow, but we’re supposed to be getting a tropical storm this weekend. Fingers crossed for no rain tomorrow afternoon!
